We have an exciting opportunity for a senior level PHP Developer to join our growing IT department and be the technical lead for one of our projects. You will work closely with a team of developers and help guide the project to meet its objectives. You will have significant involvement in the continual evolution of our bespoke in-house systems, and will work collaboratively to improve and develop them for the future.
At Xbite, we are working on a number of large and long-scale projects, including developing our own bespoke ecommerce website platform; our full back-office solution for product, stock, pricing and order management; and our internal and robust HR and task management system.Apply
You will be chiefly responsible for the progression of the project and guiding others on the team. This will involve planning and assignment of work in cooperation with the project manager, but also getting heavily involved with development.
Work closely with a team of developers to maintain and develop high performance and scalable systems with the goal of providing great user experience.
Interacting and collaborating with commercial and project teams to define technical solutions and meet the requirements of the business.
Performing peer review of your colleague’s code as part of the software deployment pipeline, and organising and performing frequent deployments.
You will be working with others in the team, learning from them, and teaching them new stuff too, so that we can all succeed as a team.
Researching and implementing new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
A high level of commercial experience working with PHP 7 and MySQL. We are preferably looking for someone with at least four years of experience within software engineering.
Strong leadership skills for managing a team of developers, and the ability to inspire.
An understanding of commercial and client requirements for creating project specifications.
Experience working with the MVC design pattern and experience with MVC frameworks such as Symfony, Laravel and/or Zend.
Knowledge of Composer for internal and external dependencies.
Understanding and experience with Linux server administration.
Experience with source control, in particular Git and pull requests.
Experience with using JIRA or other ticket management tools.
Knowledge and experience of RESTful APIs.

Our working hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 5:30pm.
22 days holiday (+ Bank Holidays) and an incremental holiday allowance, with an extra day at 3 years service, another at 4, and another at 5.
